ChristmasTimeUK has spent a lot of time researching and understanding traditions; as here at ChristmasTimeUK we're focused on Christmas 365 days of the year.
Christmas traditions have varied origins, some pagan and some Christian. But it's the Christmas tree that has remained the centre piece of the festive celebrations. The Christmas trees we still have today were brought to England by Queen Victoria's husband Prince Albert in the late 19th century, along with the various traditions of tree decorating.
From our very own Christmas tree plantations we offer a wide variety of real Christmas trees ranging from the traditional Norway Spruce Christmas Tree (from 20.00) to the increasingly popular non-needle drop tree, the Nordman Fir (from 35.00) all fresh trees are cut on site to order to ensure your freshly cut Christmas tree is delivered to your door in premium condition.
Should you wish to steer clear of real Christmas trees, here at ChristmasTimeUK we also offer a huge collection of artificial Christmas trees; from the Green Frasier Fir (from 215.00) to an Instant Green Kingston Pine Tree (from 130.00) where no re-shaping is necessary.
It was not long after Europeans began using Christmas trees that special decorations were used. Food items such as candies, cookies and straight white candy sticks, were particularly popular. With the benefit of being able to give the candy treats to the children to keep them quiet during ceremonies!
Keeping with this tradition, ChristmasTimeUK stocks a wide range of yummy decorations that truly do look good enough to eat, all be it they are made from plastic! Replicate these traditions on your Christmas tree, by adding some hanging candy canes (2.00 for pack of 4) as well as a scrumptious looking Heart or Tree Cookie Decoration (2.75 each) which will help add that extra twist of tradition to your tree. Be sure not to let the man in red gets his hands on them otherwise he may be in need of a visit from the tooth fairy!
Wendy Clarkson, the Creative Director from ChristmasTimeUK offers her Top Five Tips on creating your own Christmas Traditions:
1. Consistency is comforting and it's great to personalise your family's Christmas by combining your childhood traditions with new ones, created especially for your children.
2. Choose ideas which are varied, hands-on and colourful, such as stringing cranberries or popcorn for a tree decoration or drying fruit from your garden to make garlands.
3. Choose some "symbols" of Christmas, for example a special angel or other Tree Topper for the tree; a Christmas ornament for each child or items used just for the Christmas dinner table such as vintage-style tablecloths and individual place name holders. These special symbols will raise the Christmas spirit and build wonderful memories for children each time they're brought out for the festive season.
4. Hold an annual Christmas crafts day with a competition for the best tree decoration all the family can get involved and as the years pass you'll have a great record of your children's progressing creative talents.
5. Tree decorating and lighting ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular, and are a wonderful way of kicking off the festive spirit in your home. Include an "all join in "count-down to make it extra special for your children.
