How to Repair a Leaning Brick Mailbox

104 10
    • 1). Confirm which direction the mailbox is excessively leaning toward. Take your shovel and begin digging at the base of the post, digging deeper on the side it's leaning toward. You want to dig about 4 inches below the surface.

    • 2). Check to see if the post is already anchored into concrete. If it is, straighten the post as much as you can by gently wiggling it into the desired position or by wedging a rock between the soil and the base of your post to add support. If it is not anchored by concrete, straighten the post firmly and wedge it deeper into the dirt.

    • 3). Fill a plastic bucket with approximately one gallon of water, and open a bag of dry concrete mix.

    • 4). Pour the water into the freshly dug base of your post, and add your dry concrete mix. Quickly mix together the water and dry concrete in the hole according to the manufacturer's directions. Shovel the soil you dug up back over the water and dry concrete mix. Use the back of your shovel to pat down the soil and make it even.

    • 5). Adjust the post gently into the perfect position. Wait for the cement to re-harden.
