How Do I Level the Deere 317 Mower Deck?
- 1). Raise the mower deck to its highest level after parking the John Deere tractor on a level surface such as a cement patio.
- 2). Place one 4x4 board under one side of the mower deck and another 4x4 board under the other side. Be sure not to place a 4x4 under a deck wheel.
- 3). Lower the mower deck until it is resting on the 4x4 boards and ensure that the deck wheels are not touching the ground.
- 4). Locate the nut on the front draft arm at the front of the mower deck and use a crescent wrench to lower the front of the mower deck until it rests on the 4x4 boards.
- 5). Locate the two leveling brackets at the rear of the mower deck and loosen the leveling nuts using a crescent wrench. If more working space is needed, remove the mower belt from the drive pulley.
- 6). Ensure that the mower deck is resting uniformly upon the 4x4 boards and adjust as necessary.
- 7). Raise the mower deck and remove the 4x4 boards.
- 8). Loosen the nut on the front draft arm until the front of the mower deck is ½ inch below the back.
- 9). Replace the mower belt if you removed it.
