"Greenberg" DVD
DVD Release Date: July 13, 2010
Length: 107 minutes
MPAA Rating: R for some strong sexuality, drug use, and language
Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Margot at the Wedding) directed this small, talky character study starring Ben Stiller as Roger Greenberg, who gives the movie its title. Stiller gives a fine performance, as does his costar, Greta Gerwig, previously known for mumblecore films like Hannah Takes the Stairs.
The neurotic 41-year-old Greenberg is going through an identity crisis when he house-sits for a few weeks. He meets 27-year-old Florence (Gerwig), who has her own identity issues. There's little plot, but the movie's strength is in closely observing unglamorous life in LA.
