How to Find a Pet Groomer

    Finding a Groomer

    • 1). Check the classifieds of a phone book. Under the pet grooming section, you'll find advertisements for many groomers, some displaying what they specialize in, whether it be cats or dogs. The only problem with printed advertisements is that there's really no way to tell which groomer is reliable and which one isn't, since they all claim to be the best around.

    • 2). Search for a groomer using a community website or forum. Visiting a groomer's site can be misleading, however, as fake positive testimonials are commonplace, so by checking a forum you'll be able to see what real people have to say about the groomer and get genuine recommendations or criticisms.

    • 3). Visit your local pet store and ask an employee. Many pet stores that sell dogs and cats frequently have them groomed, and, if it's a reputable store, will only use the best groomers. Many groomers may also advertise in pet stores, so look for flyers on the wall or near the cash register.

    • 4). Ask your veterinarian. Like pet shops, groomers typically contact veterinary clinics and supply their information for potential customers. Veterinarians, many being pet owners themselves, can also offer personal recommendations.
