103 8
In order to bathe your dog, you should first have the right accessories in place.
Some of the important things you need to keep ready are bath mat, towels, cotton balls, bathing tether, drain cover, shampoo, conditioner, mineral oil, comb and brush.
The bath tub is a very important accessory in order to prevent slipping of the dog while you give bath.
Depending on the climatic conditions and also the time that your pet spends outdoors, you need to arrive at a bathing schedule.
Ideally, you bathe your dog once a month.
However, if your pet is soiled or starts smelling bad, it is time to bathe him.
Before bathing your dog, brush his coat thoroughly.
This would release the knots and remove the loose hair.
Protect your pet's ear using cotton balls and ensure that water or soap does not enter.
Apply mineral oil in his eyes to stop soap suds from entering.
Do not use shampoos meant for humans on dogs as the concentration may be very high.
Purchase dog shampoos from a pet store.
Bathe his entire body and not just the head.
If the dog has sensitive skin then try natural formulated shampoos to avoid chemicals that may affect the skin.
Ensure that when you spray water, it soaks the dog's coat and hair.
Otherwise, you may end up wetting only the surface.
After shampooing rinse his coat thoroughly at least twice.
Otherwise, you would not clear the soap suds completely and it may start irritating his skin.
