A face moisturizer is crucial for smooth and youthful skin, as dry skin causes wrinkles.
Especially important is it during the cold and windy winter season.
But sometimes face moisturizers can be ineffective and even harm your skin in the long-term.
Skincare product manufacturers are always looking for cheaper ingredients and ways to make more money, and sometimes it's on the expense of the consumers.
Therefore we need to get proactive, and educate ourselves on what ingredients we should watch out for.
There are several chemical ingredients that can cause unpleasant issues for the skin, here are two harsh ingredients which could make you look older and cause wrinkles.

Mineral oil - This ingredient is in almost every standard face moisturizer, and is from the same source as regular petrol (car fuel).
It can go by the names paraffin wax, liquid paraffin, petrolatum, and of course mineral oil.
It is used in moisturizer because it clogs the pores and keeps the dehydrating air out.
But at the same time it interferes with the skin's ability to release toxins, which encourages acne and other disorders.
It can also cause premature aging of the skin.

Alcohols - It is very drying to the skin, and is sometimes found among the ingredients of moisturizers under the names ethanol, ethyl alcohol, methanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol and SD alcohol.
It may promote brown spots and premature aging of the skin.
