ATI Theater 650 Pro Features
- The Theater 650 Pro enables a computer user to receive analog and digital television signals over their laptop or PC. The chip operates under the ATI Catalyst Media Center software, which is meant to provide a user-friendly way of accessing the tuner and its respective technology. Its features include the capability to stop, pause and rewind live TV. It also includes the MulTView technology that allows a user to record and watch two shows at the same time or provides them with the option to use picture-in-picture.
- The ATI Theater 650 Pro also introduced a motion-adaptive 3D comb filter, which lead to increased noise reduction capabilities and better overall picture quality. The Theater 650 Pro has the capability of picking television signals from around the world, which can come in handy for travelers.
- The signals available through the ATI tuner are ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee), which is the signal used for the United States, Canada, Mexico, and South Korea. It is a set of standards for digital television transmission over terrestrial, cable and satellite networks as set by the committee. This antenna is capable of outputting ATSC quality signals. The 650 pro is also capable of outputting DVB-T signals (Digital Video Broadcast Terrestrial) for European television, which is the equivalent of ATSC in America. It's a type of signal outfitted for digital television. Other formats supported are PAL and NTSC. Although the ATI tuner comes with media center software, users can also utilize the chip on applications that include SnapStream's Beyond TV, Media Center PCs and Microsoft Windows media centers. FM radio signals are also available through the 650 Pro.
- The 125-Channel tuner features MPEG2 encoding that improves picture quality. The tuner also includes a 12-bit worldwide video decoder and an audio decoder to ensure that there's never a problem with displaying incompatible video and audio when used with compatible software.
