How to Apply Bright Colored Eyeshadow
- 1). Wash your face and eye area thoroughly with a gentle cleanser. Apply day eye cream to your eyes and moisturize your face.
- 2). Apply a neutral-colored powdered eyeshadow all over your entire eyelid from your eyelashes to your eyebrows. Neutral colors can be nude skin tones, your skin tone or a light pastel color that highlights your bright eyeshadow color.
- 3). Choose the right eyeshadow for you based on your color preferences and your skin. If you have dark skin and you want the eyeshadow colors to pop, choose light or pastel colors. With natural yellow undertones to your skin, you might look good with an orange or teal eyeshadow. With light colored skin or blue eyes, start with a lavender, pink or baby blue hue if that suits your personality.
- 4). Apply the eyeshadow base. Using a slightly damp eyeshadow brush, apply a thin layer of the brightly colored eyeshadow below the crease of your eyelid. While your eyelid is still damp from the wet shadow, gently pat dry eyeshadow on it using a dry eyeshadow brush to intensify the color of the eyeshadow. The dampness from the wet shadow you applied will give the dry shadow more staying power. Add eyeshadow until you achieve the desired color intensity.
- 5). Apply liquid eyeliner to make your eyes pop even more. Using black liquid eye liner, carefully line the top and bottom of your eyelid. Draw the line as close to the lash line as possible, and leave a thicker line on top than on bottom. To allow the top eyelid to dry, keep your eye closed for a few seconds after applying the liquid liner. This will help prevent smearing.
- 6). Apply liquid foundation and powder to your face to complete the makeup. Use a makeup sponge to apply the foundation. Use the foundation to make small corrections to the shape of the eyeshadow or to blend it into the look.
- 7). Apply mascara and a light lip gloss or lip balm to complete the makeup look. Rouge or blush should be applied lightly if at all.
