Where Do I Buy A Dentists Chair From?

105 23
That's a good question, and we should instantly say from us. But wait, there are a number of important things to think about when buying a dentists treatment station. It's an expensive acquisition and so it is important to cover all bases and get it right 1st time. To do this it is prudent and sensible to have a checklist of imperatives to think about whilst you are looking around and getting quotes. It also makes good commercial sense to look at all options form all suppliers before you decide.

There are a growing number of good suppliers out there, and many offer products that are equal in terms of quality, but there seems to be a huge difference in pricing, warranties, fitting costs and ongoing maintenance costs. Hopefully, if we address a few of these issues here it will make the whole process of buying this equipment much more palatable and hopefully, less expensive.

Let's look at a number of considerations and think about how this could help us arrive at the best commercial decision.

1. Quality. Dental practices need to be on form as much as function these days. Patients demand more and with the fantastic array of quality treatment units available these days, we need a focal point to start with and quality is a good place. Make sure you buy equipment that has a stable base as this be like the difference between the clunk of a German car door, to the tinny clang of a cheaper and less well made brand. Look for units with a 13mm base plate for a start. This will demonstrate a bottom up quality of build and the last thing you want is a wobbly chair.

2. Durability. The average life of a dental chair is about 6-8 years. Some practices will change theirs every 5 years. A key aspect of the unit is to ensure that it is durable. You can tell by the quality of the motors, the piles, the joints and the material used to cover the seat. Ok, you may have a maintenance contract, but down time is expensive. Look for units with quality motors or hydraulics, stable joints and rigid.

3. Ongoing costs. Once you have bought your shiny new treatment unit, what are the ongoing maintenance cost considerations? Typically, this can be quite high, but the newer breed of savvy vendors realise that to compete they need to offer higher quality and inclusive warranties. Look out for vendors who offer inclusive prices, such as fitting, etc. look for a price that is open book and there are no extra's to the advertised price.

4. Intra Oral camera and display. We've all seen the comical pictures that some dentists stick to the ceiling to help the patient think of something else. But the ebst way to distract is to have a monitor and camera. You can explore the teeth together, identify areas that need treatment on a clear LCD display and get patient agreement more easily, as they can see what you see. Very powerful and useful tools these modern non invasive camera systems.

5. New or used. With prices coming down recently, it makes good commercial sense to opt for a new system with inclusive packages of maintenance and fitting. We sell units starting at just 2,999 plus vat including delivery, fitting and 5 yr warranty, but look around and see what others are doing, you may find a better deal. We think not, but it's still worth a look.
