The Old Tattered Card
I was cleaning my old closet. I was practically taking out the old clothes and things in it to give room for the new ones. I was thinking of throwing the old things away or better yet give them as "white gifts" as Christmas was fast approaching.
As I scrambled out the old clothes our and shoe and some of those things I considered sentimental before. I even stopped to wonder why I even consider it as a sentiment. But it does bring out great memories. The memories were not important anymore for if I would always think of memories, I will surely end up keeping the old things and no place for the new. So I put them all in the box.
And I put them all in the box, I saw an old card [http://papermilldirect.co.uk/card]. The card was tattered with burnt sides. Its color almost faded yellowish. There are spots of brown too. It looks so familiar. My heart thudded. The beat of my heart paced faster. The illustration of Snoopy of Peanuts grimed to me. It really is familiar. I remember, my elementary best friend gave it to me for my birthday.
Memories come flashing back to me. A lot were vivid yet some were clear. Then I wonder where my friend is and I thought of what have happened to the one I considered my best friend. I looked at the lower part of the card searching for an address.
I was happy to know that the scribbling at the lower part was the address. I automatically wrote it down on my address book which I now get to bring with me wherever I go. Then I began to write my letter. It was easy to start. I started with how I get to find the card that brought me back to my childhood years. It then flourished into how it went with my life and a lot of question for my best friend's life.
I never thought that my friend would still be living on the house addressed at the bottom of the card. But I was hopeful that he will get to receive it though. I never failed to write my address. If my best friend will not receive the mail, I will surely know as I will get to receive back the mail. For the mean time of not getting any return mail, I believe and expect that my friend receives it and I would really wait for the response.
