How do I Build Props For Church Dramas?

    • 1). Incorporate items that are already on the stage into your drama. For example, you can use the pulpit as a store counter.

    • 2). Drape pieces of fabric on the wall and furniture to turn them into stage settings. For example, you can use rugs as backdrops and cover music instruments with fabric to turn them into tables or sculptures. Drape a white sheet on a row of chairs to turn them into a hospital bed. Use metallic fabric to indicate luxury, for example a gold-colored fabric on a chair as a throne.

    • 3). Draw the setting on a big piece of canvas or paper pasted on a thin sheet of wood if you have plenty of time and many helping hands. This could take a lot of time, but you can use this for future dramas as well.

    • 4). Use large Styrofoam pieces as partitions and walls. For example, if you want to show what happens in two places in the same scene or you want to show the characters moving to another place.

    • 5). Place potted plants and rocks on the stage to indicate outdoor scenes.

    • 6). Place furniture pieces on the stage if they will help set the mood. For example, a bench for scenes in the park or a rocking chair for scenes in an old house.

    • 7). Use old items such as oil lamps or clay urns for scenes set in biblical times. Provide hand props for the characters to carry to indicate their personalities. For example, old people can carry walking sticks and high school girls can carry pink handbags.
