The Benefits of Taking a New Relationship Slowly

101 5
On some level, you know that taking a new relationship slowly is the right thing to do. Enough people have probably said this to you, and you know that at face value, it does seem like the way to go. However, it can be hard to take things slow and sometimes, you may wonder why you should in the first place. This article should help you to reinforce some of the reasons for why it can be very good to take things slowly when you have first met a guy and start dating him.

Reason One - You Want to See Who He Really Is

It's easy to put off a certain air about yourself or present yourself on the first date or even the second one. It is a lot harder to do that over time. So, if you want to see who a guy really is and what he is really about, waiting and taking things slowly can help you to do that.

Reason Two - People Take Things More Seriously When They Have to Work For Them

When a guy knows that he can move things really fast, then there is a tendency for him not to take you as seriously as you may want him to. It's just human nature for things to be that way. For example, a woman who sleeps with a guy on the first date is usually going to be taken less seriously as "relationship material" by him than a woman who wants to wait a while.

Reason Three - You Want to Make Sure That You Are Not Just Acting on Impulse

When you act on impulse, you don't always have all of the time or the information that you need to make a good decision. You can often end up doing things that you later regret or would not have done if you had waited to find out a little more.

Reason Four - You Can Take The Time To See If They "Fit" In Your Life

Sometimes, you will meet a guy who seems great and like the kind of guy that you would like to date, only to realize that he just does not fit into your life. Waiting a while and taking things slowly can often help you to save yourself from some of the disappointment that can come when you find out that things are just not going to work out between the two of you.
