How to Add Words to Flower Pots
- 1). Sand the outside of your flower pot to get rid of any uneven spots or loose bits of terracotta.
- 2). Wash the pot to rinse away any debris left from sanding.
- 3). Let the pot dry completely before you stencil or decoupage it.
- 1). Purchase or cut out letter stencils in the font you would like to use on your flower pot.
- 2). Trace a light line across your pot with a pencil to make sure the placement of your letters is straight.
- 3). Use a small brush to paint in each stencil letter using acrylic or latex paint in your chosen color.
- 4). Allow the flower pot to dry overnight.
- 5). Finish your pot with two or three coats of clear, water-based polyurethane.
- 1). Photocopy or print out the letters that you want to decoupage onto your flower pot and cut them out.
- 2). Draw a line around your pot to ensure straight letter placement, then cover this area with Mod Podge.
- 3). Place the letters onto the Mod Podge on your flower pot.
- 4). Allow the pot to dry overnight.
- 5). Finish your pot with two or three coats of clear, water-based polyurethane.
