Lilium White Lancer Growing Information
- The most important factor in the success of cultivar lilies as White Lancer is well-drained soil. Heavy clay soil or wet soil causes the bulbs to rot. Put the plants in raised beds or amend soil with sand, fine grit or fine gravel.
- Plant the White Lancer in full sun for best blooms. Water it until it is established, but sparingly thereafter except in times of drought. The plant should grow to be about 5-feet tall, with many fragrant, white, trumpet-shaped flowers appearing in the fall.
- White Lancer is hardy in United States Department of Agriculture Plant Hardiness Zones 6 to 8, meaning that it can withstand winter temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees. Check the USDA's Plant Hardiness Zone Map on the United States National Arboretum website to determine your zone.
