How to Install Service Pack 2
- 1). Turn on automatic updates on the computer. Click on "Start" in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Click on "All Programs" and click on "Windows Update."
- 2). Click on "Check for Updates" in the upper-left corner of the pop-up window. Click on "View available updates" and in the list of updates choose "Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB948465)." Click "Install" and type in your administrator password if you are prompted.
- 3). Follow the instructions to install Service Pack 2. Your computer may restart on its own a few times. Log in to your computer after the installation is complete.
- 4). Install Service Pack 2 manually from the Microsoft Download Center (see Resources) if Windows Update does not work. Save it to your computer's hard drive.
- 5). Open the download. Double-click the file or select "Run." Click "Next" when the "Welcome to Windows Vista Service Pack 2" screen appears.
- 6). Follow the instructions and allow your computer to restart. Log on to Windows after the installation is complete.
