How to Remove Grass & Grease Stains From Clothing

104 8

    Grease Stains

    • 1). Hold the clothing up in the air and spray a stain pretreatment such as Shout or Wisk on the stain to coat the spot. Use only short bursts of spray to gently cover the stained area.

    • 2). Turn the clothing item over and begin gently rubbing the back of the stain with a cloth.

    • 3). Place the clothing into the washer to wash on the cold-water setting. Remove the clothing when the wash is complete and lay the clothing on a flat surface. Check the spot to make sure the stain was removed. If not, repeat the pretreatment and wash before placing the clothing in the dryer because the stain may become permanent with the use of heat.

    Grass Stains

    • 1). Blot the grass stain with a sponge using rubbing alcohol until the alcohol and the spot have dried.

    • 2). Apply cold water to the area with the same sponge and gradually work in a dollop of detergent that is liquid-based instead of powder.

    • 3). Rinse the spot and allow it to again dry. Place the clothing in a bucket of half lukewarm water and half vinegar for half an hour.

    • 4). Wring out the clothing and rinse it again. Finally, place the clothing into the washer on hot and apply a small cup of bleach after the washing is about 10 minutes into washing to thoroughly clean the clothing. If the clothing item is of a dark color, forgo the bleach for a detergent with bleach already included inside its ingredients.

    • 5). Remove the clothing and allow it to air dry on a table or on a clothing line to avoid the clothing item shrinking prematurely.
