Jersey Boys
Jersey Boys is a story about the rise and fall of The Four Seasons, a musical group composed of four unknown kids from New Jersey. There's four acts, each act is told from the perspective from one member of the group. In 2004, the musical debuted at the La Jolla Playhouse belonging to the University of California, San Diego. In 2005, Jersey Boys made its Broadway debut. It won the Tony Award for Best Musical and has been performed over 2 thousand times.
Mamma Mia
An English musical written specifically for the songs of ABBA, a Swedish pop group with hits like Honey Honey and Dancing Queen. The story follows a young woman who is about to get married on a Greek island. Unfortunately, she has no father to walk her down the aisle. She snoops around in her mother's diary and finds three men who could be her biological father. The young woman invites all three men to the wedding, hoping figure out which one is her father. In 199, the show premiered in London. By 2001, it reached Broadway. Now, it's the 10th longest running show on Broadway. Worldwide, Mamma Mia has brought in over $2 billion in ticket sales.
Chicago
Chicago takes place during the prohibition era of the 1920s. It's about crime, justice, and the media that covers it. Chicago was originally a play, written in 1926, by crime reporter Maurine Watkins. She wrote for the Chicago Tribune. The incidents which occurred in the play were real life crimes she reported on for her newspaper. Chicago is one of the older musicals, having debuted in 1975. In 1997, it was revived and won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.
Cinderella
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella tells the classic French fairy tale of the unappreciated step-daughter turned princess. It was originally made as a television musical, but ended up premiering on the Broadway theater. The musical is ideal for families with children, or anyone who loves the story.
