How to Clean the Door Gasket of a Front-Load Washer
- 1). Sprinkle baking soda along the gasket of your front-load washer and allow it to sit for several minutes to absorb any odor.
- 2). Dampen a nonabrasive sponge with water and use it to scrub the rubber material with the baking soda.
- 3). Rinse the gasket with clean water. If you see any mold formations, continue cleaning.
- 4). Dilute 2 tbsp. of bleach in 1 gallon of water.
- 5). Soak a clean cloth in the bleach solution and wipe down the gasket thoroughly to remove the mold. Use your sponge if scrubbing is necessary for the removal.
- 6). Rinse the gasket with plain water. If odor is still an issue, continue.
- 7). Add 1 cup of bleach to your front-load washer's dispenser and run it through a normal wash cycle. After the cycle's end, open the washer door and allow the machine to air for a few hours to thoroughly remove the odor.
