Video: How to Extrude Characters in Photoshop
Video Transcript
My name is Aaron Kromann, here to teach you Photoshop and I'm going to show you how to extrude characters. Okay. So, first, we use the text tool and you can choose whatever text you want, they've got tons of them that comes with Photoshop; but, I'm going to be using minion pro semi bold and I'm going to make the letters four, it's about size 40, so it's easier to see. And I'm going to write down something and do little bit of lower case and uppercase, kind of move it around dead center. They can be zoomed, oop, hit okay and kind of zoom in a little. Extrude is when you pull out something. It's, kind of makes it more 3D, so you have your flat image and you kind of pull it out, make it more three dimensional. So, now that we have the text, how do we extrude it? Okay. So, first of all, we're going to delete, duplicate this layer and we're going to change this color. Go to the color picker and make it a little bit less gray, okay and hit the check mark and it's good. So, now, we're going to use the move tool and we're going to pull it up a little to up and to the right and pretty much looks ex, all extruded already. Now, we're going to do a little bit more, we're going to make another layer just below the, the new draw. And we're going to take some black and make it little small brush, ah little smaller and just kind of fill in the area in between the two, just wherever little corners and everything else. And we're going to erase it a little, make it look a little bit. Since it's on another layer, it's okay if you erase it, it's not going to do too much since it won't hurt the previous layer since it's already text. It's on a different layer, so it's good. And there we go, it's been extruded. My name is Aaron Kromann and good luck with Photoshop.
