How to Make Beaded Jewelry & Rings

    Briolette Drop Earrings

    • 1). Thread a five-inch piece of 22- or 24-gauge wire through the hole in the briolette drop. Center the drop on the wire.

    • 2). Bend the wire to form an X shape above the bead. Pull the ends of the crossed wires apart so that the crossed area is just above the point of the briolette. Make sure that the briolette can swing freely.

    • 3). Bend one of the wires so it stands up vertically from the middle of the X shape. Wind the other wire tightly around it, making four or five close coils just above the bend. Snip off the end of the coiled wire using wire cutters so it is flush and tuck in using the pliers.

    • 4). Bend the remaining wire at a 90-degree angle just above the wrapped section. Curl it around in a neat loop using the pliers. Cut off any extra wire. Add a jump ring and connect the loop of the briolette to the ear wire. Repeat the process for the second briolette.

    Beaded Crystal Ring

    • 1). Cut one foot of monofilament or fine plastic-covered beading wire. Tie a knot in one end.

    • 2). Thread approximately 35 11/0-sized seed beads, followed by a small crystal bead, a bead cap (convex end first), a large crystal bead, a second bead cap (concave end first) and a second small bead. The exact number of seed beads will depend on the wearer's ring size.

    • 3). Tie the ends of the thread together firmly. Dab a small amount of glue or nail varnish on the knot to prevent it from slipping. When the glue is fully dried, cut off the ends of the thread, leaving about an inch on each side. Push the ends through the beads and push the beads over the knot to hide it.

    Double-Strand Beaded Stretch Bracelet

    • 1). Cut two pieces of stretch cord, each around one foot long. Tie a spare bead loosely onto the end of each; these are called stop beads and will be removed when the bracelet is finished.

    • 2). Thread both strands of stretch cord through a double-holed bead. On each strand, thread eight 10/0-sized seed beads on each strand. Thread a second double-holed bead, ensuring that the bead is the same way around as the first. Repeat for seven double-holed beads.

    • 3). Thread the last eight seed beads on each strand, then tie the end of the top strand to its tail (removing the stop bead) and doing the same for the lower strand. The strands should be separate.

    • 4). Place a dab of glue on the knot. Wait until the glue is completely dry, then snip off the ends of the stretch cord, leaving around an inch. Hide the ends and the knot under the beads.
