How to Attach Vinyl Tile to Concrete

    • 1). Pull up any loose or crumbling areas of concrete. Sweep the floor. Thoroughly clean the floor with household floor cleanser and a mop. Let it dry for 48 hours.

    • 2). Pour liquid floor leveler into each crack, hole and low area of the floor. Pour it slowly, letting it level itself out. Let it set for a day.

    • 3). Divide the floor into four squares, laying down two intersecting lines with your chalk line. Set a square at the intersection of the lines as you lay them to make sure they're square against each other.

    • 4). Lay down tile adhesive over the center of the floor with your notched tiling trowel, covering a few square feet.

    • 5). Set a vinyl tile into one corner of the intersection of the lines, pressing it firmly into the adhesive. Set additional tiles around it, butting them tightly at the edges.

    • 6). Spread more adhesive and set more tiles, working your way out along the lines toward the walls. Cut the tiles at the walls as needed by scoring along the surface with a utility knife and snapping them at the lines. Let the tile set for 24 hours before walking on it.
