How to Troubleshoot the Rinse Aid Dispenser on a KitchenAid Dishwasher

  • 1). Examine the rinse aid detergent dispenser, to the right of the detergent dispenser on the dishwasher door interior, if items do not seem to be rinsing clean. Add rinse aid if the indicator is at or below the "Add" level on the rinse aid dispenser indicator.

  • 2). Run the "Heat Dry" or "ProDry" cycles on the KitchenAid dishwasher if there is moisture left on items in the dishwasher even when the rinse aid dispenser is full.

  • 3). Turn the dispenser cap to "Lock" after refilling the rinse aid if the dispenser seems to be low or empty on a regular basis, or rinse aid is spilling in the dishwasher, creating too many suds.

  • 4). Wipe up spilled rinse aid immediately before running the dishwasher if there is over sudsing after a rinse aid spill. Pour 1 gallon of water into the dishwasher tub and run a "Drain" cycle if a rinse aid spill creates too many soap suds.

  • 5). Turn the arrow adjuster to a higher setting if the household has hard water. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver in the center of the dial and turn the adjuster clockwise to a setting higher than 2.
