How to Make an Origami Basket From Recycle Paper
- 1). Open the newspaper and fold in half, right side to the left side.
- 2). Fold the paper in half again, this time bringing the top down toward the bottom.
- 3). Fold the paper in half once more, bringing the right side toward the left side.
- 4). Slide your thumb inside the top fold, underneath the top two layers or pieces of paper. Hold down the rest of the layers. Open the top two layers that are over your thumb from left to right, as if you were opening a book from the back. The top edge rises. Press it flat into a triangle, lining up the center crease. You should have a triangle in front, and a rectangle behind it on the left.
- 5). Flip the project over to create another triangle on this side. Slide your thumb inside the top fold on the right, underneath the top two layers. Open the top two layers as if you were opening a book. Line up the lower-right corner with the lower-left corner. Again, the top edge will rise. Press it flat into a triangle, lining up the center creases. You should now have a triangular top and squared bottom on both sides of your project.
- 6). Fold the top two layers on the right over to the left, so that the lower-right corner meets the lower-left corner; it is as if you were turning a page in a book. Flip the project, and repeat on this side.
- 7). Fold the sides toward the center until they meet; the lower-left corner will meet the lower-right corner at the center crease. Flip and repeat.
- 8). Fold the bottom up toward the top, tucking the lower-right and lower-left corners into the triangular pockets. Press flat. Flip and repeat.
- 9). Fold the top triangle down toward the bottom and unfold back to where it was. This will make a crease.

Place thumbs up under the two sides and pull in opposite directions. The triangle on top will flatten out, making the bottom of the basket. Turn the basket right side up.
