Tutorial on Folding Circles to Make Flowers
- Cut several circles from scraps of coordinating fabric. You will need approximately five circles to make one flower; the size of your circles will determine the size of your finished flower. For a basic flower, trace a paper towel cardboard tube to make your circles.
- Fold one circle in half so the outside of the fabric shows and the underside of the fabric is inside the fold. Fold it in half again so that it resembles 1/4 circle or a large slice of pizza. Fold it in half one more time so it makes a smaller triangular "pie slice" shape. Fold three other circles like this one, preserving the folds as you finish each one.
- Pinch the four circles together, holding their pointed tips together and arranging the curved outer edges to look like a rosebud. Take one more circle, unfolded, and wrap it around the inner petals you've created. When you wrap this circle, do it so the nicer side of the fabric shows on the outside and the underside of the fabric faces the other petals.
- Use a needle and thread to sew the pieces of fabric together. Stitch through the pointed base of the flower shape, making sure to go through all of the layers a few times as you make your stitches through the center. Tie a knot in the base and your flower is finished and ready to be used in all your crafting and home decor projects.
