How to Make a Grass Broom
- 1). Gather or purchase straw for the broom. Grasses such as oat, cornstalk or wheat are recommended.
- 2). Purchase or cut a sturdy and straight tree limb, or solid wood stick.
- 3). Clean the grass stalks to remove debris.
- 4). Bundle grass into 1.5-inch-thick sections.
- 5). Wrap craft wire or thick twine around each bundled strand of grass.
- 6). Cut grass bundles to the same length with scissors, or a hacksaw.
- 7). Tie the grass bundles together to create one broom stalk. Tighten wire or twine to secure grass.
- 8). Push a wood stick or tree limb into the center of the grass broom bundle. Attach broomstick to grass bundle securely with wire or thick twine.
