How to Fix a CIV4 Shader Error
- 1). Go to Microsoft's website and click on "Downloads" at the top of the page; select "Download Center." In the search box at the top of the page, type "DirectX" and hit "Enter."
- 2). Search for "DirectX End-User Runtimes" in the list. The latest version, at the time of this writing, is "DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)." Click on it to reach the download page.
- 3). Click the large "Download" button to start the download. Choose the location of where you will save the file and double-click it to start the installation.
- 4). Accept the terms of the License Agreement by clicking "Yes" and choose a location where the installer can extract the files. Once all files have been extracted, go to that folder and double-click on "DXSETUP.exe"
- 5). Accept the License agreement, click "Next" and the installation should begin. Click "Finish" once the installation is over. Restart your computer and start the game.
- 6). Reinstall CIV4 if you still get an error. The game files might have been corrupted.
