Do It Yourself Long Hair Updos and Styles
- 1). Pull the hair into a ponytail near the top of the head, and secure it with a covered elastic band.
- 2). Grab the free hair at the end of the ponytail and begin tucking strands into the outer loop of the elastic band to create a loose bun.
- 3). Using a second elastic band, loop around the entire bun to secure the style. BellaOnline recommends finishing this style by spraying with a medium or firm hold hairspray as well as a shine-enhancing finishing spray.
- 1). Pull hair into a low, loose ponytail, and secure it with a covered elastic band.
- 2). Separate the hair just above the elastic band, and slip the ponytail through the opening by lifting the end and pulling it over the top of the elastic band and down.
- 3). Pull a few strands out of the elastic band near the front of the ponytail. This creates a softer look, according to Hairstyles Teacher.
- 4). Finish with hairspray.
- 1). Comb hair back from the forehead, and gather into a ponytail about halfway between the crown of the head and nape of the neck. The ponytail should be slightly off center to the left.
- 2). Twist the ponytail clockwise twice. This creates a base for the style, according to Hair Boutique.
- 3). While holding the base of the ponytail with one hand and the top of the ponytail with the other, fold the top third of the ponytail downward.
- 4). Fold the hair down again, making the ponytail less than half its original size. Press it towards the head with the other hand to create a small space between the inside of the hair and the scalp.
- 5). Gently push the hair into the open space so the folded ponytail runs into the hollow. Continue this step until the twist is a tight roll and hair can no longer be pushed into the hollow. Secure the roll by pushing bobby pins along the seam where the roll meets the scalp.
