How to Replace Broken Power Cords on Power Grinders
- 1). Cut off the damaged power cord with wire cutters, approximately 6 inches from the grinder. Discard the old cord.
- 2). Remove 2 inches of the covering on the remaining 6 inches of cord, using the utility knife. This will expose the three colored wires inside the covering. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off the ends of each wire, using the wire stripper.
- 3). Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off the three wires on the new cord, opposite the plug end of the cord.
- 4). Connect the white wire from the grinder with the white wire from the new cord. Twist a plastic wire connector onto the pair to secure the connection. Connect the black wire from the grinder with the black wire from the new cord, and secure them with a wire connector. Connect the green wire from the grinder with the green wire from the new cord. Twist a wire connector onto the wires.
- 5). Wrap each wire connector with electrical tape to protect the splices. Wrap all three splices together with electrical tape to encase them.
