Altered Mini Scrapbooking Album Ideas
- Many different materials are used to display favorite photographs. Safety-pin mini albums are worn as brooches on a shirt or as an embellishment for a backpack or tote bag. Four or five pieces of card stock are cut two inches wide and three inches long with two holes punched into the top. Decorate the card-stock pieces using printed paper, stamped images and, of course, pictures. If you expect this album to get a lot of "wear and tear," laminate the finished cards or place in collector card sleeves to protect them. Use small jump rings to bind the four or five embellished card-stock pieces, and slide the jump rings over the metal safety pin when it's open. Display the finished album on a bag or shirt where others can see it.
- This mini album is one way to display your favorite vacation pictures. A postcard album can be made two different ways. One way is using actual postcards, and the other is to print your photographs to look like postcards. Embellish the back of real postcards with pictures and printed paper. Print your own pictures on card stock the size of a postcard and embellish the back with journal tags to describe where you were and what you were doing in that picture. String the postcards together using ribbon for an accordion album, or use jump rings to create a flip album.
- Bottle-cap mini albums are made using two wide bottle caps from sports drinks or milk jugs. Display pictures of children and special memories that are commonly placed in a wallet or purse using this technique. Trace the bottle cap five times on colored card stock and cut each circle out. Place pictures onto one side of each circular piece, and decorate the opposite side of three pieces with stickers, or write a description of who is in the picture and when it was taken. String the pictures together using ribbon or yarn, leaving the one-sided pieces on each end. Glue the end circular pieces inside each bottle cap with the photograph facing upward. Add ribbon or yarn to each side of both bottle caps to keep the album closed until it's viewed.
- These mini album coasters are sure to be the center of conversation for family members and guests that come to visit your home. Plexiglas cut into 4-by-4-inch squares will protect the album or pictures from damage. For four completed coasters, you will need eight pieces of Plexiglas. Use card stock cut the same size as the Plexiglas to be used as a base. Place printed paper and photos on each piece of cut card stock. These can be embellished with flat materials, such as ribbon and stickers. Glue each finished scrapbook page to the top of one piece of Plexiglas, apply a thin coat of clear glue to the top of the page and place another piece of Plexiglas on top of the finished page. Allow the coasters to dry before use.
