Learn Guitar in Ten Minutes
The guitar as an instrument is in itself a paradox.
It is one of the easiest instruments to learn the basics but one the hardest to learn to advanced level.
Before we can start this ten minute lesson we must cover a couple of basic facts.
Firstly the strings on the guitar are numbered one to six the thickest being number six.
"Thick sixth string"! The right hand thumb and fingers are P I M A.
That is thumb p and index finger so on.
You will need a guitar that is in tune and ten minutes.
On the third string and second fret place the ring finger.
On the fourth string second fret place the middle finger.
Holding both fingers down firm pluck the strings 5 4 3 2 1 2 3 4.
When plucking the strings use the thumb or p on strings 5 and 4 then Finger 1 on the 3rd string m on the 2nd string and a on the 1st string and the same on the way back then repeat three times.
Then keeping the middle finger on the fourth string move the ring finger to string number five fret number three.
Now repeat the plucking sequence as before and repeat three times.
Start again from the beginning, play slowly at first then speed up as you get used to the right hand movements.
The piece is called simplicity, it uses techniques that will not form bad habits, if you continue to study guitar to advance levels the use of correct right hand fingering will serve you well for life.
