If you pressure your ex too much, you run the risk of pushing them even farther away.
Here are some things that you need to keep in check.

Arguing about the break up.
Sure, your pride has taken a hit.
But remember that they have their reasons, even if you don't agree with them.
Give them their space.

Trying to contact your ex right after the break up.
Many people think that after a short break their ex may be ready to talk about things.
This is an issue of timing, which is very important.
You need to understand exactly how much time to give them, and when it may be time to attempt to re-establish communication.

Do not harass your ex with telephone calls or text messages.
When a person has been dumped they will look for any reason to communicate with their ex in order to make a connection.
Also resist the urge to ask family or friends to intervene on your behalf.

Do not attempt to persuade your ex they have made a big mistake and that they should take you back.
No matter how good you think your reasons are, they simply do not want to know.

Being needy.
This is a common blunder and it is not the kind of behavior you want to exhibit if you want to get your ex back.
Do not, under any circumstances tell your ex how lost you are without them, or especially that you don't want to live without them.
Instead you have to keep your head up and maintain an optimistic demeanor.
Don't lounge around the house feeling sorry for you.
Get out, have some fun and pretend that nothing in the world is wrong.
