How to Remove the Carb From a Honda CRF450X Dirt Bike

    • 1). Unscrew the bolts along the side of the seat at the rear with a 12 mm socket. Lift the seat up and pull the hook under the front of the seat out of the motorcycle's frame.

    • 2). Remove the bolt at the bottom corner of the seat's side covers with the 12 mm socket. Pull the side covers away from the frame.

    • 3). Unscrew the bolts from the fuel tank's side covers with a 10 mm socket. Pull the covers away from the fuel tank. Unscrew the fuel valve's bolt from the frame with the 10 mm socket and pull the fuel line off of the valve. Unscrew the bolt from the front of the fuel tank with the 10 mm socket. Unhook the rubber strap from the base of the tank and pull it away from the motorcycle.

    • 4). Loosen the muffler's exhaust clamp, positioned to the right of the rear shock absorber's spring, with a Phillips head screwdriver. Unscrew all three muffler mounting bolts along the right side of the frame with the 10 mm socket. Pull the muffler away from the motorcycle.

    • 5). Unscrew the bolts that attach the seat's sub-frame to the motorcycle's main frame with 5 and 6 mm Allen wrenches.

    • 6). Unplug the throttle position sensor's electrical connector from the top of the carburetor.

    • 7). Loosen the carburetor's manifold clamp with the Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the carburetor off of the motor.

    • 8). Remove the hot start cable from the right side of the carburetor with a 12 mm wrench. Pull the hot start valve out of the carburetor.

    • 9). Unscrew the throttle cable cover from the left side of the carburetor with the Phillips head screwdriver. Loosen the throttle cable's lock nuts with a 10 mm wrench. Pull the cable ends out of the throttle assembly and away from the carburetor.
