    • In 1996, GMC began producing the Savana, a van for commercial and passenger services. The full-size vehicle was created as a replacement for the Rally Wagon. Over time, the Savana has seen some changes to its specifications. The 2000 model comes in five trims, helping consumers to find a Savana that fits their specific needs.

    Engine

    • The 2000 GMC Savana comes equipped with one of two engines. The G1500 trim includes a 4.3-liter V6 engine that provides 200 horsepower at 4,600 rpm and 260 foot-pounds of torque at 2,800 rpm. The G2500 and G3500 trims (regular and Extended) provide a 5.7-liter V8 engine that produces 255 horsepower at 4,600 rpm and 330 foot-pounds of torque at 2,800 rpm.

    Handling

    • All 2000 GMC Savana vans feature a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The Savana's anti-lock brake system includes two ventilated disc brakes. The turning diameter of the vehicles measures 45.2 feet for the G1500, 47.4 feet for the G2500 and G3500, and more than 53 feet for the Extended trims. The 2000 Savana uses wishbone front suspension and beam rear suspension.

    Fuel

    • The 2000 GMC Savana features a multi-point fuel injection system. The standard 31-gallon fuel tank takes unleaded gas. All Savana trims provide the same gas mileage. The vans deliver an estimated 14 miles per gallon in the city and 18 miles per gallon on the highway.

    Exterior

    • The three-door GMC Savana comes in one of 10 colors, including metallic, gloss and black paint schemes. Black bumpers, tinted glass and body side molding are standard features of the van. The base models of the 2000 Savana measure 218.7 inches, while the Extended trims stretch 20 inches longer. All models are 79.4 inches wide, while the height ranges from 79.6 to 83.9 inches depending on the trim.

    Interior

    • Standard seating for the G1500 trim is eight passengers. The other four models feature seating for 12, and the G3500 Extended van can be adjusted to seat up to 15 passengers. The interior of the 2000 Savana is equipped with a six-speaker sound system, vinyl seat upholstery and driver and front passenger airbags. For commercial purposes, the Savana offers 267.3 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats removed. Front passengers receive 40.6 inches of headroom, while riders in the rear get 39 inches.
