How to Set Up a Home LAN With a DSL Modem
- 1). Plug one end of the first ethernet cable into the "Computer" port on the broadband modem. Plug the other end of this cable into port 1 on the ethernet switch.
- 2). Plug one end of the second ethernet cable into the network adapter (which looks like a wide telephone jack) on the first computer. Plug the other end of this cable into one of the free ports on the ethernet switch.
- 3). Plug one end of the third ethernet cable into the network adapter on the second computer. Plug the other end of this cable into one of the free ports on the ethernet switch.
- 4). Turn on both computers. Check the ethernet switch to verify that the lights representing the ports that the computers are plugged into are flashing intermittently. If the lights are not flashing, check the connections to verify that the cables are plugged in snugly.
