How to Divide Propagating Blue Fescue
- 1). Dig up an existing clump of blue fescue. Choose a plant that is healthy and well established.
- 2). Choose the areas that you want to divide from the parent plant. Blue fescue can be divided as much as you like. An 8-inch plant can produce 10 separate plants.
- 3). Use a sharp knife to help separate the clumps of roots and grass. Do not pull or rip the roots; cutting them causes less trauma to the plant.
- 4). Plant the new plants in the ground or a container. Cover the entire root ball with soil.
- 5). Water the new plant well and continue to water regularly. Keep the soil moist.
