    • 1). Lay two 50-inch boards on edge, parallel, 15 inches apart. Place two 15-inch boards between them so they are perpendicular to the 50-inch boards and 47 inches apart. Screw the 50-inch boards to the 15-inch boards so you have an 18-by-50-inch frame.

    • 2). Position the 13-inch boards so they are in the corners of the frame, perpendicular to the frame. These are the legs to your bench, and they must be even so you bench sits flat. Screw through the frame and into the 13-inch boards.

    • 3). Screw a 15-inch board to each pair of legs that are 8 inches apart. The 15-inch boards should be between the legs and positioned 6 inches below the 15-inch boards that are attached to the frame. Position your 37-inch board so it is lined up with the 7 1/2-inch centers of the bottom two 15-inch boards. Screw through the 15-inch boards and into the 37-inch board. The 37-inch board will provide support to the bench legs.

    • 4). Screw through the 25-inch center of both 50-inch boards into the last 15-inch board. The 15-inch board should be parallel with the other two 15-inch boards. This board will provide support to the seat boards.

    • 5). Screw your last three 50-inch boards to the of the bench frame so they are lying flat. The outer two 50-inch boards must be parallel and flush with the 50-inch boards on the frame. Sand down the bench, wipe it down with the tack cloth and apply your wood stain.
