How to Remove the BearShare Address Bar
- 1). Restart your computer. Press "F8" button repeatedly while the computer is restarting. This will display an Advanced Boot Options screen.
- 2). Use the arrow buttons on the keyboard to select "Safe Mode" and press "Enter." This loads Windows Safe Mode.
- 3). Click "Start." Type "Appwiz.cpl" (without quotes) in your Search box and press "Enter." This opens the "Programs and Features" window.
- 4). Right-click "BearShare MediaBar" and click "Uninstall." Click "Yes" when asked to confirm. This removes the address bar from Microsoft Internet Explorer. However, it does not fully remove the toolbar from Firefox. Continue reading if you own Firefox.
- 5). Press and hold the "Windows" and "r" keys consecutively. Type "Firefox --preferences" in the Run dialog and click the "OK" button. This opens an options window on your screen.
- 6). Click the "Manage Add-ons..." button at the bottom of the window. This opens the Firefox Add-on Manager in a new window on your screen.
- 7). Click the "Extensions" icon on the left pane. This displays a list of installed extensions on the right pane.
- 8). Click the "Remove" button next to "BearShare MediaBar," and then click the blue "Restart Now" link. Firefox should load onto your screen without the address bar.
- 9). Restart your computer.
