How to Replace the Battery on a 2007 Monte Carlo SS
- 1). Place the Monte Carlo SS in "Park" and turn the engine off. Allow the vehicle to cool for a half-hour before replacing the battery.
- 2). Open the hood of the vehicle and locate the battery. The battery within the Monte Carlo SS is located on the passenger side, in the front. The battery can be identified as a square box with two charged terminals on top of it.
- 3). Locate the negative battery cable. The negative cable is labeled with "-" and is colored black. Loosen the cable using a combination wrench. Once it's loose, twist and pull the cable off the battery. Do the same for the positive battery cable, which is labeled" +" and colored red.
- 4). Remove the battery from the Monte Carlo SS by lifting it straight up. Use the battery handle for more leverage.
- 5). Clean the battery holding tray of any debris, dirt or corrosion using a wire brush and rag. This will create a clean connection for the new battery.
- 6). Place the new battery into the battery tray. Place the positive battery cable onto the positive terminal. Secure the cable using the socket wrench. Repeat this process for the negative cable making sure both cables are tight and secured.
