How do I Hang Planter Mounts on a Light Pole?

104 39
    • 1). Determine the circumference of your light pole by wrapping a tape measure around the pole and recording the measurements. Select a minimum height at which you want your planter to hang -- if people will walk under the pole and planter, hang it no less than 6 1/2 feet from the ground.

    • 2). Install the hardware on your pole starting with the bracket. Undo the two pieces of bracket and reattach them together around your pole at the correct height. Insert the bolts and tighten with the nuts using a wrench until the bracket is secure on the pole.

    • 3). Attach the planter mount to the bracket according to the package instructions. Place the planter onto the mount, following the instructions on the package to secure it in place with nuts and bolts or accompanying hardware.

    • 4). Fill your planter with potting soil, using a ladder and bucket if the planter is too high to see into your planter.

    • 5). Choose sun-loving plants such as marigolds, alyssum, geraniums and petunias. Water daily and fertilize once per week with a 10-20-10 fertilizer.
