With business booming in the big smoke more people than ever before are flocking to London to set up shop and start their own business enterprise. The capital city is expanding at a steady pace with businesses cramming themselves into a tight and competitive market place but, now, with UK travel becoming cheaper and more widely available, there are a number of companies opting for a more rural base or setting up sister companies in other major UK cities.

Manchester is the largest of these growing cities in terms of business popularity and over the past ten years it has fast become an appealing option for business entrepreneurs to open a second home. The city itself is hailed as the business capital of the North West and, despite a largely industrial base; it has concentrated on improving technical facilities and a strong work force which is drawing in new business from London. Manchester is quickly climbing the ranks as business savvy location and is now ranked high amongst the top cities for executives looking to expand their businesses. It is fast becoming the preferred choice for many new conglomerate head quarters and high profile London companies are quickly following suit to take advantage of the great facilities and workforce to be found.

Both London and Manchester have some of the best further education facilities in the UK so new talent is always emerging from their universities and colleges. With the easy transport links to and from London more and more students are gravitating towards Manchester for its plentiful jobs and great quality of life. Gone are the times when London was the only option for university leavers with grand ambitions.

One of the main reasons business links are so strong between London and Manchester is the city's location which is ideal for reaching all parts of the UK and is seen to be a much more accessible base for a country wide business. Manchester is hailed as the people's city and appears to be much more in tune with the common man than its cut throat cousin, London.

In the UK cities Monitor survey London and Manchester were placed first and second as the best cities to locate a business and now that transport links between them are much improved many more London based companies are being encouraged to expand to the north. Trains and flights to Manchester from London are regularly available making access between the two cities simple and cost effective.
