How to Make an ATV Log Trailer

104 8

    Instructions

    • 1). Weld a square chassis frame together using four pieces of steel tubing. The width of the chassis should match the length of the axle. For log collecting, 4 feet is ideal. Use at least 6-feet tubes for the length of the chassis.

    • 2). Weld two 2-foot pieces of tube on the front end of the chassis to form a triangle. The end of the triangle is where the latch will attach and hitch on the back of the ATV.

    • 3). Weld the axle on the underside of the chassis, about a foot in from the rear. The axle should have a good weight capacity of about 3,500 lbs and a proper form of suspension to cope with uneven terrain, such as leaf springs or torsion bars.

    • 4). Weld eight 2-foot tubes along the sides of the chassis, four on each side. These should point vertically upwards and be evenly spaced about a foot and a half apart.

    • 5). Attach the wheels to the axle, and then weld the latch to the end of the triangle formed by the tubes at the front of the chassis. The latch should be suitable for attaching to the tow hook of the ATV. The latch prevents the trailer from tilting or becoming loose over bumps.

    • 6). Prime and paint the trailer to prevent rust and keep it protected. Attach to the rear of the ATV and you are ready to collect logs.
