How to Make a Paper ID
- 1). Open a graphic editing program such as Paintshop Pro, Photoshop or Paint.NET. Open a new file and enter 2 1/8 inches for the width and 3 3/8 inches as the dimensions for the file. This is the standard size for ID badges.
- 2). Take a head shot picture of yourself with a digital camera, or have someone else do it for you. Insert the camera's memory card into the computer and open it in the graphic editing program. Click on the selection tool in the program and drag it over the section of the photo to select you from the shoulders up. Use the crop function to get rid of the extra area around the selected part.
- 3). Copy and paste the cropped head shot photo on to the new file you created. Drag it to the upper-left corner of the blank file.
- 4). Select the text file and click to the right of the photo. Type your name and hit the enter key to create a new line. Type your job title or other important information that needs to be on the ID card. Adjust the font size by clicking on the font size drop down menu on the text toolbar. The text needs to be large enough to read. Save the file.
- 5). Load a thick piece of printer paper into a printer and print out the ID card. Cut the card out and leave about 1/8 inch of paper for a border around the card. Cover the front and back of the card with clear contact paper and trim the excess contact paper from the edges.
