Instructions for a Load Resistor Splice Tap
- 1). Turn off the vehicle.
- 2). Examine the vehicle repair manual and locate the wiring schematics for the vehicle's lighting system.
- 3). Determine the correct color coding for the positive "+" and "-" ground wires associated with the electrical circuit connected to the LED bulb.
- 4). Remove any shielding or obstructions on the vehicle to gain access to the appropriate positive and ground wiring for the LED bulb. Peel back any protective wiring looms or tape covering the wires.
- 5). Determine an appropriate mounting point for the load resistor. Mount the resistor to a metal portion of the vehicle, away from major airflow obstructions and flammable components or fluids, and close enough to the bulb wiring to connect the load resistor.
- 6). Drill a small hole through the metal mounting area, using an appropriate size drill bit. Check for any obstructions, wires or moving components behind the mounting point. Secure the load resistor to the mounting area with a self-tapping screw and appropriate screwdriver.
- 7). Fit the "-" negative ground wire for the bulb circuit into the slotted portion of the splice tap; the wire should fit securely within the two-way channel of the splice tap.
- 8). Insert one of the two wire ends from the load resistor into the remaining one-way opening of the splice tap. Insert the resistor fully into the tap to promote a secure connection.
- 9). Clamp down on the small metal blade on the splice tap with a pair of pliers until the top portion of the blade is flush with the top of the plastic housing. Close the small plastic flap on the splice tap to protect the blade connection.

Repeat the splice tap installation process for the "+" bulb wire and remaining load resistor wire. - 11
Replace any wiring looms or components previously removed from the vehicle to complete the installation process.
