    • 1). Open a word processing program on your computer.

    • 2). Type out the lettering you want for your T-shirt.

    • 3). Make adjustments to the font, size and color of the text so it appears on the screen how you would like it to appear on the shirt.

    • 4). Print a test on plain printer paper to make sure you get the results you want. Make adjustments if you need to, printing a test each time to make sure you are happy with the results.

    • 5). Flip the text over a vertical axis so that it appears backwards on your screen, as the design will be a mirror image of what you print once it is on the shirt.

    • 6). Print the text on a sheet of iron-on inkjet transfer paper.

    • 7). Cut the lettering out from the paper, leaving 1/4 inch border of paper around all pieces.

    • 8). Place the pieces on the shirt as you want them to appear, with the printed side of the paper facing down.

    • 9). Heat your iron to the hottest setting with the steam setting turned off.

Run the iron over the top of the entire lettering for 30 to 45 seconds, or until the lettering transfers to the shirt, using firm pressure as you do so. Peel up one corner of the paper to see if the transfer is heated up enough to start peeling away from the paper. Read the ironing instructions that comes with your specific brand of transfer paper, as ironing instructions may vary slightly.

Let the paper cool completely before you peel it away.
