How to Remove a Bedliner
- 1). Remove the fasteners or Phillips screws that secure the bed liner to your truck's bed. Fasteners tend to attach to the truck bed's rails. The screws are usually located on the top of the bed's walls near the rear window and on the sides. Once removed, place these screws in a safe place as you will need them if you are replacing the liner. Fasteners can be discarded.
- 2). Lower your tailgate. If you wish to remove the liner from your tailgate, remove the screws that secure it as well. Lift up on the edge of the liner material and use force to pull it off.
- 3). Lift the edge of the liner, starting from the space between the bed and tailgate. If you can't grasp the liner with your fingers, use a flat-head screwdriver to wedge the edge of it up. Move from the end of the bed toward the walls, gradually working the liner up.
- 4). Force the rest of the liner up and out of the bed. Evenly apply force as you work it out of the bed so as to avoid chipping or scratching any paint. Depending on how long the liner has been inside the bed, you may need to have a friend help you pry it up.
- 5). Clean any dirt, rust or corrosion out of the bed. If there are any repairs you need to do to your truck's bed, tend to these before replacing your old liner.
