    • 1). Use a pen to draw a rectangle onto a piece of interfacing or butcher paper. The rectangle should be 18 1/2 inches by 6 3/4 inches. Cut out your drawn rectangle.

    • 2). Label your cut out rectangle. Label one of the short sides TOP. Label the other short side BOTTOM FOLD. Label the long sides SIDE. This will make it easier to place your pattern and cut your fabric.

    • 3). Choose a fabric for your completed wine bottle gift bag. You can use any material you would like; however, organza is easy to work with and gives a fancy look to the completed bag. You will need 3/8 yard of fabric to make two bags.

    • 4). Fold your chosen fabric so that the right side of the fabric faces in and the wrong side is out. Match the selvage edges together. The selvage edge is the finished edge of the fabric. The other edges are called raw edges.

    • 5). Place your pattern that was labeled in Step 2 onto your folded fabric so that is running the width of the fabric. The side of the pattern that is labeled BOTTOM FOLD should be along the folded edge of fabric. Cut out your fabric along this pattern. You can now remove your pattern, but remember where it was on the fabric for easy reference.

    • 6). Fold the fabric on the TOP side down half an inch on both sides of the fabric. Make sure it is folded on the wrong side of the fabric; you do not want your seam on the outside of the bag. Crease the fold down using an iron. Fold it down another half an inch and iron it again. Then pin it in place with straight pins.

    • 7). Place straight pins down the SIDES of the bag to hold it in place. The pins should be set in from the edge about half an inch.

    • 8). Use your sewing machine to stitch down the SIDES of the bag and along both of the TOP folded seams you made.

    • 9). Remove all the straight pins and turn your bag right side out.

Place your wine bottle into the bag.

Tie a piece of fancy ribbon around the top of the bag to finish it.
