How to Fix a Kenmore Freezer That Doesn't Freeze

    • 1). Follow the power cable to the electrical outlet. Ensure it is tightly pushed in and the outlet is switched on. Test the electrical supply from the out by plugging in a lamp or other small appliance into the outlet. Check your fuses if the outlet is not working. Replace a blown freezer fuse with a suitable 15-amp time-delay substitute. A blown fuse will stop the freezer working.

    • 2). Turn the temperature control dial to a higher setting. The dial may have been accidentally turned to "0" or "Off" when you were loading food. The higher the setting, the cooler the internal temperature will be. Some Kenmore freezers have "Cooler" markings on the edge of the dial. Allow four hours for changes to take effect.

    • 3). Ensure the freezer closes properly. Tightly packed food or storage containers can hold the door ajar, and let cold air escape. Verify the door gaskets make contact with the body of the freezer when the door is closed. A working air seal is imperative to maintain ice cold temperatures. You may find your freezer becomes too warm if the freezer doesn't close.

    • 4). Ensure no warm or hot food is stored inside the freezer. It will raise the internal temperature and may defrost other items. Preserve the internal temperature by reducing the number of times you open the freezer door. Cool air escapes each time you open the door.
