The Internet Explorer has many options that you can change to your specifications. It also does a good job of storing passwords, history, links and other information. There may come a time when you need to reset your Internet options for whatever reason. Luckily, Microsoft makes this process rather painless. - If your Internet Explorer is loading slow, constantly crashing, missing information or any other issues, resetting to the default Internet options will most likely solve the problem. Sometimes Internet Explorer can be bogged down with old files that interfere with new information causing unwanted results. There are even some programs that may change things, such as your homepage and privacy settings, which resetting will revert.
- A full reset will delete any information that is stored in the browser including cookies, passwords, history and any customizations. If you do choose to do a reset, write down any important passwords that you may have stored as they will be unrecoverable without resetting them.
- As of Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft has made the process of resetting to the default Internet options as simple as a mouse click. Click on "Tools," select "Internet Options" and click the "Advanced" tab. Press the "Reset" button and confirm that you actually want to reset the Internet options.
