Instructions for Replacing a Belt on a Hoover Dimension II Vacuum
- 1). Unplug the Hoover vacuum cord from the wall outlet. Lower the handle to the floor, and turn the vacuum over so that the bottom is facing up. Find the slots at each end of the agitator brush bottom plate. The slots are just behind the brush. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the slot, and push toward the back of the motor head to disengage the agitator plate. Repeat for the opposite notch, and remove the agitator plate.
- 2). Locate the notches on each side of the vacuum between the bottom edge of the cover and the bottom plate. There are two notches on each side. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into each notch and disengage the clips securing the cover.
- 3). Pull the agitator brush and belt out of the vacuum head. If the belt is broken, remove the left over pieces of the belt from the vacuum head. Place the new belt around the end of the agitator brush, with the lettering on the belt facing out. Place the agitator back into the bottom of the vacuum head, inserting the belt through the opening in the head.
- 4). Position the front tabs of the agitator plate into the notches on the front edge of the vacuum head. Lower the rear of the agitator plate over the bottom of the vacuum, and press down until it locks into position. Turn the vacuum right side up.
- 5). Slide the cover off the vacuum head. Grasp the end of the new belt and stretch it over the vacuum motor pulley. This requires some effort, but do not use a screwdriver to stretch the belt. Place the cover back over the head, and squeeze the bottom edges to lock the cover into place.
